With in-depth knowledge of marine technology and expertise in building maritime structures such as Greenfield ports, breakwaters, docks, jetties, shipyards, shiplift systems and shore protection, L&T is fully equipped to meet the country’s Naval Infrastructure requirements.
A dedicated shipyard at Kattupalli, near Chennai, has been put up to meet the growing demands of the Indian Navy, which houses some of the most hi-tech facilities in ship design and building. The Modular Fabrication Facility (MFF) at Kattupalli is an impressive example of a linear manufacturing facility that can meet the needs of the Indian Navy. This facility has already turned out a Floating Dock for the Indian Navy and Interceptor boats and Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Indian Coast Guard. A dedicated shiplift and transfer system, with a design capacity of 23,000 MT, and possessing all hi-end technologies to carry on the repair / overhaul without a dry dock arrangement, the Kattupalli shipyard is well-equipped to handle the repair, overhaul or refit of Naval, Coast Guard and commercial ships.
To shore up defences for India’s long coastline, we help build breakwaters, jetties, shore protection and more. Project Seabird at Karwar, Hazira shipyard, Kattupalli Shipyard, Adani Port at Mundra, Gangavaram port in Andhra Pradesh are a few projects, that involve the above aspects.
